| Description: | Job Description Job title Network Engineer FLSA Status Exempt Location: LaFayette, LA The client is looking for a candidate with more than 5 years experience with Active Directory, Exchange, Sharepoint, BES and VMware. SUMMARY Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/or external networks. Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations. Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan. Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment. Provides technical support and guidance to users. May require associate's degree in area of specialty and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard Network Administrator concepts, including Microsoft Server products, Cisco networking products, server virtualization, storage area networks, dense computing environments, and corporate data center operating procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Reports to Network Support Manager. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Responsible for the implementation of physical and virtual servers, storage area networks, tape libraries, networking equipment, and cable and power plants. 2. Assists in PC/LAN/WAN network design and control 3. Anticipates PC/LAN/WAN hardware and software needs for planning and budgeting via monitoring the PC/LAN/WAN community's appropriate usage 4. Monitors PC/LAN/WAN systems security and performance and assists with setting related policies 5. Takes appropriate action when pre-defined security and performance thresholds are exceeded 6. Collaborates with database administrators (DBA's) concerning data security, database performance, and backups 7. Responsible for data integrity and daily system backups 8. Collaborates with application developers and software vendors concerning product development and migrating software changes and updates from test systems into the production environment 9. Responsible for submitting and updating system change requests and following the established change management procedures 10. Responsible for keeping all systems patched and up to date with latest appropriate software security updates 11. Provides Level 2 support to Help Desk team 12. Logs all incident-related work activity in Incident Tracking system 13. Participates in project planning and assumes responsibility for tasks that are associated with assigned projects 14. Attends weekly team meetings and provides a status report each week 15. Participates in established rotating on-call schedule, providing 24x7 support on a periodic basis 16. Demonstrates capacity for organization, prioritization, and management in a dynamically changing environment 17. Effective interpersonal skills 18. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Basic Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Very High Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. COMPUTER AND OFFICE EQUIPMENT SKILLS Email software (ex. MS Outlook), word processing software (ex. MS Word), spreadsheet software (ex. MS Excel), Internet browsing software (ex.
